The Chicago Southside Mini Maker Faire is in its third year, but it seems like just yesterday that we were setting up tents and welcoming makers and attendees to our very first event. We know first-hand that the excitement of Maker Faire is inspiring, infectious and continues to grow every year, with 2015 marking the 10-year anniversary of MAKE.
Dale Dougherty, the founder of Maker Media and Maker Faires was featured in a recent Fast Company article reflecting on the past 10 years and how the widespread visibility and recognition and adoption of making has been catalyzed by MAKE initiatives. The article also gives a sneak peak into MakerSpace, a new online community for makers to share their work and process with other makers worldwide.
Interested makers can sign up for the beta phase now, and the full site (free!) is expected to launch soon.
